Similes

I’ve recently, as in a few hours ago, decided that someone should maintain a list of things which people say Sigur Rós sounds like. I will admit that their sound is different from most bands out there, but I just never think of them as all that weird. Former passengers in my car when I had a Sigur Rós CD in would care to disagree. To wit:

“Do you have any real music? This just sounds like drops of water.” -my boss, in response to Ba Ba Ti Ki Di Do

“I’m going to change the CD, this sounds like dying seals.” -Brett, in response to Hlemmur

“Can we listen to something else? This is like listening to static, from outer space.” -my dad, in response to Ágætis Byrjun

I do try to swap out any Sigur Rós albums I may be listening to when I know that I am to have company in the car, but sometimes I forget.
